Crocheted Bulls Eye Hobo Bag Blocked and Bedazzled!

Monday, May 29th, 2006

Here is a pic of the latest. This is the Bulls Eye Hobo bag pattern by Stitch Divas. As you can see, I changed the color and instead of Berroco Cotton Twist, I used Berroco Touché. I did use the Berroco Suede and even put some in the granny squares for interest. I would do two things differently.

1. I used a black and white toile to line the bag. It is a directional print I sewed it so when you look inside the bag the print is horizontal! Not my brightest moment.

2. I would round the corners of the granny squares that are on the bottom. The way you sew the gusset to the front and back makes the bottom want to round, instead of square. I think it would “shape” a little better that way.

The best part was the Bedazzler! Wow! I could really get carried away with that little beauty.

Knitted Babe Finished

Monday, May 15th, 2006

My 5 year old granddaughter loves to look through my crochet and knitting books. Last week she found Knitted Babes. She grabbed my face in both of her hands (best way to get an adults attention) looked me straight in the eyes and pleaded for me to maker her one with purple hair, green eyes and pink lips. Only the hardest of hearts could have refused.

In age of computerized and interactive toys, I really didn’t think that this little doll would hold her attention for very long. I guess there are some things that never change. Is it that magic that happens between a little girl and her doll? Or maybe it’s the love we tenderly place in every stitch when we create something for someone we care about. This child is in love with little knitted Lila Jane. She sleeps with her and takes her everywhere she can. She treats this doll with a tenderness that pulls at the heart strings. What a surprise!!

I used scraps of fabric from clothes I have sewn for Lila’s pants and top. Her hippie hat and Birkenstocks were made from a wool coat I felted (and will probably be using for the next 20 years!). I crocheted the straps of her sandals and hat band with pearl cotton.

YO HO, YO HO A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

I had a request for better pics of Mr. Right’s tatoos. I guess he isn’t the only pirate fan. As you can tell, he is also a big Pirates of the Caribbean fan. When the tatoo artist showed him the transfer for the one on his arm, Caribbean was spelled wrong! The one on his is leg is depicting a scene from the ride and I guess the movie too.
