Knitting Olympics Finale

I persevered during a raging head cold, Stitches West and the grand opening of IKEA. Can I get moment of silence?. . . My husband loves them. If the truth be told, I think that he loves that I made something for him. The socks are o.k. but given that he’s the nice guy that he is, I think they pale to the fact that I gave him something made just for him by me.

It has been such a feeling of solidarity to participate with all of the other Fiber Olympians. I am of the opinion that it really doesn’t matter if everyone finished. What matters is the experience, the effort, support and encourage that was universal among all who participated. That makes us all winners of the Gold! Congratulations everyone.

Stitches West

I haven’t posted for a while. Between Stitches West and my Olympic socks I HAVE BEEN BUSY. Can I get an Amen?!

I didn’t see as much Crochet as I had hoped but the Stitch Divas came through for us. They have some new Hairpin patterns (just so happens to be my latest thing) and some killer bag patterns. There are soooo many purse and bag patterns on the market now you know that these would have to be good in order for me to be impressed. The photos don’t due them justice. Below is a pic of the hairpin hats and Granddaughter number 2. Guess which one is which.

Boo At Market

Later I’ll post info on the classes I took and my new favorite knitter: Melissa Leapman. Gotta’ get those Olympic socks finished. I am on the toe descreases so it looks like barring that I pull a hammie or something else that I can’t spell, I should finish before the tourch goes out.

Despite the odds, my raging head cold and my husband’s large feet: I CAST ON. I’ve been training in preparation (though not for this) for some time. The nay sayers (namely my grandmother) doubted that a “died in the wool” crocheter could master the throw. They were partially correct. I don’t throw, I proudly and quite quickly pick. I have to admit that I got a little goose bumpy when I cast on, just thinking about all of the other lunatics around the world who were doing the same. Check out the frapper map.

I’ll updat this with progress photos as I go:

Day 3
I asked him if ankle socks would be o.k. He said, no.

Punk Fui: The Love Connection

Monday, February 6th, 2006

We are all looking for love on one level or another. I found a great article on the SuperNaturale site that will help you find it the feng shui way. Apparently to find your love area you stand in your doorway (the door to your home, your apartment, your room if you share a household). The love area is the furthest most rightest corner. This presents a teensy little problem for me. That corner just happens to be right next to my oven and is currently occupied by a set of Canisters! I like those cansiters but I don’t LOVE those cansiters.

She then moves to the bedroom….. and… and… tells us how to fix no-no’s. Should I wake up Mr. Right? This was getting interesting! “2. The problem: Inequality of the bed. Each person should have the same stuff: lamp, end table, etc. Also enough pillows and big enough blankets.” No way!!! Those blankets are mine. I fought for 6 hours and won and I like the stuff on my side. I think I just flunked the feng shui Love Connection.

Check this out these crafty Valentine hearts http://whipup.net/ Cute. Clever. Involves needle, felt and thread. I can definately handle this.
